Railroading In The Now

Although I believe the glory days of railroading in the United States are long past, it is still important to cover modern day railroad operations in order to educate those who may be curious on where trains go and what products they are hauling. Don't get me wrong, trains still play a major role in transporting goods throughout the United States, it's the human transport portion of railroading which I believe will never again reach the levels recorded at the turn of the 20th Century. Those who are familiar with the modern day operations of the various freight railroads scattered throughout the United States may think of intermodal as being the main economic driver but there are still manifests, as well as unit trains of coal, oil, grain, and other valuable commodities. On this page, I will cover the modern day operations of several railroads organized into specific rail lines; known as divisions or districts. These pages will include trains that operate on the line, both through and local, as well as an industry list and other interesting factoids. I hope you enjoy this look into how railroads still have an impact on the modern day economy of the United States!
