EMD SW600
The EMD SW-600 was a yard switcher developed and sold by EMD from February of 1954 to November of 1962 with a total of 15 being built. It was powered by an EMD 567B 6 Cylinder engine and had 600 horsepower. It weighed 198,000 pounds and had a max speed of 65 MPH. This 4 axle switcher was sold to a multitude of companies including Shell Oil, the Chicago & North Western, and the Clinchfield Coal Company. Surprisingly, many examples of this model exist today with the majority still in revenue service to this day. Some examples can be found on the St. Marys Railroad in Georgia, the Knoxville & Holston River Railroad in Tennessee, and the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad in Wisconsin.
